What is your reaction to this image? Anyone looking at the outlier would think that obviously, there’s been a measurement error.

But did you know that when it comes to life, where we are is not an outlier? Of course there are other MAJOR factors but where we are in life is to a certain extent the sum of all our habits – good or bad.

For instance, our intimacy with God or lack of has a lot to do with what we decide to check first thing in the morning.

Proverbs 24:33,34 says,

“A little sleep, a little rest, folding your arms, and taking a nap — these things will make you poor very quickly. Soon you will have nothing, as if a thief broke in and took everything away.”

I heard somebody rephrase it like this:

A little netflix, a little web-surfing, a liffle folding of your hand on your smartphone every chance you get - these things will soon make you spiritually poor.

Sometimes, we’re more interested in other things than God.

We’re all guilty of this and we need God’s grace to win this battle.

So here’s a prayer to help us fight for our time with God each morning:

Lord, give me the grace to hear your voice in the MORNING and to wait expectantly as I lay my requests before you (Psalm 5:3).

Let the MORNING bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life (Psalm 143:8).

Satisfy us in the MORNING with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days (Psalm 90:14).
