Tobi Turns One

Today, our son Tobi turned one. As we celebrated his birthday, we also had a simple program at home to dedicate him to the Lord. It was basically to remind ourselves of how God sees him and our job as his parents - to raise him in God’s ways.
We declared Psalm 127:3,4 over him.
“Children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth.”
Tobi is a GIFT, a REWARD, and an ARROW.
He is a gift and our reward from God. No matter how tough parenting gets, we’ve made the commitment to always see and treat him as a blessing from God.
He is like an arrow. He has his own destiny in God. Our job as his parents is to raise him in a way that his gifts, personality, and the opportunities presented to him along the way would fit into the purposes of God. We are to train and equip him, straighten him out sometimes, and launch him someday into his destiny.
Our prayer is that Tobi would always hear God’s voice of acceptance, affection, and affirmation through us, his parents.
And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you, I am well pleased." MARK 1:11 NIV
