after the morning mist had gone, Lake Matheson NZ, March 2015 |
What does a man gain from all of the work that he undertakes on earth? In other words, what's the point of all that we've labored
for and achieved in this life?
Solomon, a King who deprived himself of no pleasure and
surpassed all who were before him in terms of wealth, wisdom and fame, had this
to say in the book of Ecclesiastes.
It's all vanity.
Without God in the picture, that's all that life is. Vanity. A passing vapor or a mere breath. If it's all about the here and now and
if we're only living for our own purposes and desires, our lives will be like a
morning mist that soon vanishes.
Hope you can watch this sermon by Pastor Steve Murrell. It
helped me understand my life's purpose and reason for living. We owe it to ourselves to know what we are living for, so
that things in our lives will begin to make sense.
