Osaka Castle Park, April 2017
I can just imagine how this fortress served as a place of refuge for the Japanese people in the past. With its large, imposing and seemingly impenetrable wall, the inhabitants were sure to be kept safe and defended from any outside attack.

When faced with a life-shaking circumstance, we all run to our own fortresses for refuge.

They can take the form of loved ones or can be material things that we think we can rely on. These things may not be bad. But the reality is, they can't completely protect us. Thus, they are bound to let us down.

The one true fortress we have is God.

When we take refuge in Him, He becomes our fortress.
When we run to Him, He keeps us safe.
He will be our impenetrable defense and protection.
No weapon, no outside threat, nothing can touch us without going through Him first.

It's safe to put our trust in God because in Him, we have a fortress stronger than any attack the enemy can muster whether in the physical or spiritual realm.

Psalm 91:2
I will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!"
