It's the first Monday of the year and the first working day for most of us. I pray, to start it off, that we would steward God's blessings well. And financially speaking, we would no longer be feeding the bad habit of PRETENSION.

Here's what it is:

1) It's that yearning to be approved.
We pretend, in the hopes of soliciting attention and being approved by other people, to be someone we're not. We buy things we can't afford yet on credit to impress ourselves and other people. Such a lifestyle reveals the yearning to have one's primary approval from man and not from God.
This year, know that you are approved by God and it's Him you want to please.

For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ. - Galatians 1:10 ESV

2) You can have all the riches in the world and still have nothing.
Wealth without Jesus in your life is an empty life. You can have all the material possessions in the world but apart from Christ, you'll have nothing of true grace - just the counterfeit and temporary satisfaction that this world offers.

3) You can be rich toward God
This year, commit to be rich toward God by putting your money to good use. Manage and invest money the way He wants you to. It's easy to know if you're doing it right. Ask yourself, "Am I using money to please myself and other people or am I using it to please God?"

Happy Stewarding Christ's Gifts!
