Tillage is the agricultural preparation of the soil by mechanical agitation and modification of its structure.

Jervie and Binz, using brute strength to prepare the soil

Tillage, in discipleship sense, is the molding of a person’s character by the constant grounding and pounding, digging and shaking, crushing, refining and beating through trials and adversities.

Why You Need to Know This:

1) Adversity is sure to come.
At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, "Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens." The words "once more" indicate the removing of what can be shaken--that is, created things--so that what cannot be shaken may remain. (Hebrews 12:26-27)

2) But a disciple of Christ will endure ‘til the end.
We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. (2 Corinthians 4:8-9)

3) Only through the Power given from above.
being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father.. (Colossians 1:11-12)
